The Mt. Hoei Hike starts from the Fujinomiya 5th station, at an altitude of 2,400 meters. We climb to the 6th station, traverse to the Hoei Crater, and then aim for the summit of Mt. Hoei, a secondary volcano on Mt. Fuji, at a height of 2,693 meters. The first highlight, the Hoei Crater, is the largest volcanic crater on Mt. Fuji, formed when Mt. Hoei erupted more than 300 years ago in 1707. Slowly and carefully we tread through the crater over centuries old ash and volcanic rock. Step by step we draw closer to the peak, from which we will have an incredible 360-degree panoramic view of Mt. Fuji, the crater below us, and in the distance, the Hakone Mountains and Izu Peninsula. A slightly challenging hike, which gives you the best views from Mt. Fuji without climbing to the peak of Mt. Fuji itself.
